A Few Words
The goal is to give everyone a variety in their meals, have an opportunity to spice up their life and make meal plan/preparation and cooking fun and an epicurean delight as well as healthy.  Understand, the fancy restaurants and the not so fancy, purchase their items in bulk, many pre-cooked/baked, are microwaved and then tossed into a hot oven to brown.  Hey, you can do that too!  How do you think they get potatoes Au Gratin to you in 15 minutes in a cute little dish??

Hey, you're at the office and your partner calls and asks the proverbial question:  "What Should We Have For Dinner??" or you are the primary meal maker and you are in a tizzy as to what to have for dinner.  You have kids in soccer/baseball/ballet and they have to go to practice after school, but you want them to have a good meal.

Two of the above meals are quick meals taking less than 30 minutes to make.  All 3 meals cost less than $3 to make, are low fat and healthy .

 

Using a crockpot is a great time saver and you are assured that the meat will be tender.  As the book identifies,  if the meal only needs (4) hours to cook, get a mechanical timer (sold at Wal-mart, Lowes, most drug stores, etc..).  Set the time for 4 to 5 hours before you come home from work and when you walk through the door your nose will go crazy.  The key to using the crockpot is to think of your meal plan the night before.
